👤 About me

I'm Aurélie, a French editor, researcher, and longtime curator of Tracy Chapman's work. I've spent over two decades building resources, leading one of the largest global fan communities, and producing original publications that explore the depth and impact of Tracy Chapman's music.

What began with a spark of inspiration in 1988 became a life-long dedication, not just to Tracy Chapman as an artist, but to documenting her cultural influence with care, precision, and historical perspective.

I was ten years old when I first heard “Talkin’ Bout A Revolution” on French radio. I didn’t speak a word of English, but her voice cut through everything, powerful, intimate, and urgent. A few months later, my English teacher brought the song into class, and I understood it for the first time. That lesson, and the album I bought that same week, changed the course of my life.

I began learning English through Tracy’s lyrics, discovered political awareness through her storytelling, and decided to carve my own path—first through education, then independence, and finally writing. Today, I live in the French countryside, but the music that first gave me courage has never left.

Over the years, I've had the chance to attend nearly 60 of Tracy Chapman's concerts in Europe. Yeah, that's how much I love her music, especially live performances!

📚 My Creative Journey

In 2001, I founded about-tracy-chapman.net, the most comprehensive and enduring resource about Tracy Chapman on the web. This online archive includes hundreds of articles, interviews, rare appearances, and verified updates.

I have also co-created and now co-manage the Tracy Chapman Online Community, followed by 2.7 millions followers across Facebook, Instagram, Youtube, Threads, X and Bluesky. There, we can meet, share memories, and honor her legacy.

One of the most important missions, both with the website and via social media, was and still is to keep the community informed about news in Tracy.

In addition to these platforms, I have written and edited two books dedicated to Tracy Chapman’s cultural and personal impact:

  • Dear Tracy (2010): a collection of letters to Tracy from fans around the world ;

  • Their Stories With The Debut Album (2018): personal stories of how Tracy Chapman’s first album or a song from it impacted people’s lives.

These projects aim to preserve the emotional, social, and political reach of her music beyond the charts.

✨ Why I started this newsletter

After my editing and archival efforts, this is the logical next step. This newsletter is a place for reflection, education and connection. A place to slow dow and listen to Tracy’s music again. My goal is to create a thoughtful, respectful, and meaningful space to explore Tracy Chapman’s work in depth. A place where I can write freely, dig deeper into Tracy's lyrics, share new finds from the archives, those great discoveries from the past, and use thoughtful material to bring fans together.

> Important: This newsletter is not written by Tracy Chapman.
It is an independent editorial project, built with admiration and integrity but without affiliation or endorsement by Tracy Chapman.

🎧 Why trust me?

I bring the concern of a researcher, the viewpoint of a publisher, and the compassion of a listener. Independently, I have been recording Tracy Chapman's legacy for more than 20 years.
